HotHouse Theatre, a leading professional theatre company in regional Australia, is seeking new Board Members.

HotHouse has commissioned, produced and presented contemporary Australian theatre for regional audiences since 1997. 2018 marks HotHouse’s 21st birthday and the company remains one of only a couple of professional theatre companies still operating and presenting the stories and voices of regional Australia. In 2018 HotHouse, under the leadership of CEO and Artistic Director, Lyn Wallis will continue the long tradition and deliver an acclaimed annual season of contemporary Australian theatre.

HotHouse continues to be recognised nationally and receives public funding from the Federal Government, through the Australia Council for the Arts, the Victorian and NSW State Governments through Creative Victoria and Arts NSW respectively and the cities of Albury and Wodonga. HotHouse also receives generous local support through corporate partnerships as well as private donations from individuals and philanthropic foundations as well as the income derived from the delivery of annual programs and services.

In 2018 HotHouse celebrates 21 years since the Murray River Performing Group morphed into HotHouse Theatre and took up residence at the Butter Factory Theatre, Gateway Island, Albury Wodonga. It continues to attract strong audience numbers from the twin cities as well as from across the broader region.

The Board is looking for expressions of interest from Albury Wodonga and the broader regional community. The Board is committed to diversity, where possible, in terms of skill, gender, ethnicity, age, geographic location, commitment to Albury Wodonga and or the broader region and relevant experience and background.

Applicants are ideally interested in the unique and important role that a professional theatre company can play creating a vibrant, engaged tolerant and liveable regional community. Any new board appointment should demonstrate a commitment and capacity to apply strategic thought and provide leadership in supporting HotHouse achieve its stated objectives at a local, regional and national level. Demonstrated experience in board governance and risk, strategic planning, marketing including digital marketing, philanthropy and corporate partnerships, accounting and or finance, culture and human resources, strong community and or business leadership or social enterprise and impact investment while not mandatory, will be highly valued. The Board also encourages all interested people to apply.

New non-executive Board Directors will be appointed via an interview process, taking into consideration the Board’s current skill composition, impending retirements as well as its commitment to diversity. The Board has a strong performance based culture. Non-executive Board Director roles are voluntary positions normally appointed for an initial 3-year term and a maximum of 6 years..

Teachers and Teaching Artists

Demand for our Drama School classes is at an all-time high, and we are seeking to expand our casual teacher and teaching artist base in 2017.  If you are a theatre artist or performer with teaching experience, or a teacher with hands-on drama and play-building experience, we want to hear from you!

We are currently accepting Expressions of Interest from teachers and teaching artists for Terms 3 & 4.
