CODGERS - Catch them while you can!

CODGERS - Catch them while you can!

Be alert but not alarmed as some of Australia’s best-loved senior actors present Don Reid’s funny and heartwarming Codgers in August at the Hume Building Society Butter Factory Theatre Wodonga. Seats are selling very fast – and we don’t want you and your friends kicking yourself for missing this one – so please book quickly for performances from August 12-16.

In a nutshell Codgers is about five senior Aussie men, four of them mates since war service, who meet one morning each week in a gym. They exercise together, chew the fat, laugh, tease and sing. They solve the problems of the world, agreeing to disagree. But some surprising and disturbing elements arise to test and challenge their comfortable relationships with one another and to the world around them. Secrets, differences and loss of trust threaten to destroy the long established friendships. Amidst the back strain and biceps, the jokes and the secrets, they learn that ‘difference’ is more a matter of point of view; that ‘you wouldn’t be dead for quids’ and that, no matter what, you gotta laugh!

The cast includes six of Australia’s leading senior actors: Ronald Falk (Nicholas Nickleby/Weary), Ron Haddrick (Festen/The One Day of the Year), Edwin Hodgeman, Jon Lam (Singapore Sling), Graham Rouse and the ever-popular Henri Szeps (Mother And Son).

HotHouse Theatre is thrilled that it has the opportunity to present the premiere production (directed by one of Australia’s leading directors, Wayne Harrison) straight out of its original Sydney season. ‘It will tour far and wide in the next couple of years but you have the chance to see it on the Border first,’ Artistic Manager Campion Decent says.

Don’t miss out!
