Trainees needed to make BITING DOG run!

Young people will take over The Hume Building Society Butter Factory Theatre Wodonga in June this year for the eleventh annual Biting Dog Theatre Festival. An exciting event that just keeps on getting better, the festival challenges young artists from across the region’s schools and youth theatres to tackle an ‘empty’ script. The result is an exciting youth festival where up to 22 groups present their interpretations over consecutive nights in the theatre from June 11-20.
The Festival also involves young people in technical traineeships, a media traineeship, workshops, and a poster design competition. Up to ten technical trainees will work with the Festival’s Technical Director and Stage Manager to learn a variety of skills and act as technical crew for the Festival. The traineeships will involve exposure to lighting, sound and stage management skills as well as significant one-to-one tuition with members of HotHouse staff across a range of areas relating to the staging of a theatre festival.
It is expected that each position will specialise in a particular production area such as lighting, sound and stage management. Successful applicants will require some previous theatrical experience and positions are being targeted at age 15, 16 & 17 years.
Information regarding the Technical Traineeships can be downloaded from below this article. Applications close on April 28. Interviews will be conducted by HotHouse Theatre staff to select trainees. The positions will be voluntary and should meet school requirements for work experience programs.
