HotHouse Theatre revealed its amazing 10th Birthday 2007 Season at a Launch at The Hume Building Society Butter Factory Theatre Wodonga last night attended by Special Guest actor John Wood. Actor and Gold Logie winner John Wood is a veteran of the Australian entertainment industry, known to many from the successful police series Blue Heelers. John Wood will star in the second HotHouse 2007 season show The Ghost Writer, a Melbourne Theatre Company production.
Presenting ten shows for its tenth birthday year the HotHouse Theatre phenomena continues to grow. In July 1997 one hundred people sat in an old building on Gateway Island and saw the birth of a new Australian theatre company, and a new theatre venue for Albury Wodonga. In that year HotHouse Theatre produced three works in its season and played to 3000 people. In 2007, the subscription season offers subscribers ten works plus the Biting Dog Theatre Festival. HotHouse expects to play to an Australia wide audience of nearly 30,000.
General Manager, Bernadette Haldane said, “The inclusion of The Ghost Writer starring John Wood, and The Story of the Miracles at Cookie’s Table by outstanding indigenous writer/director Wesley Enoch, coupled with dinner with Australian theatre icon Anne Phelan, a comedy festival, the powerful and moving Unspoken by Rebecca Clarke and the highly acclaimed world wide hit The Shape of Things by American playwright Neil LaBute, adds up to the best birthday gift we could give this community.”
And ticket prices to attend HotHouse shows are amongst the lowest in Australia. With 2007 Subscriptions starting from as little as $66, a subscription is a great move that more and more people are making. A 2007 subscription will save dollars, allow priority booking and a bring a friend deal, and make sure theatre goers don’t miss out on sell-out shows. Be part of the best regional theatre company in Australia by becoming a 2007 subscriber and see some of the best theatre Australia has to offer!
